Why We Chose St. Charles - The Brown Family

My history with St. Charles Borromeo began well before I was born.  My grandparents joined the parish when it opened, and my mom and uncles went to school at St. Charles. 

My parents were married at St. Charles, and I was baptized here. Our family attended church here as parishioners, and it seemed to simply make sense that I’d attend St. Charles as a student. 

But, it was more than that; my parents wanted me to attend a solid academic school rooted in Catholicism and faith, filled with teachers who cared and invested themselves in the students. I graduated in 1998 with stronger core values, an education that prepared me for high school and beyond, and knowledge of what it meant to be part of a community built on faith. St. Charles was and will always be very special to me.

Keeping the tradition going, my husband and I were then married at St. Charles and remained parishioners, and our son was baptized here. When it came time to consider kindergarten, there was only one place we wanted him to be. We wanted him to be in an environment that feels like a community, where everyone knows everyone, where academics are strong, and where God and learning the importance of being truly kind children are center stage. The learning is critically important, but so is the spiritual, social, and emotional growth that we know St. Charles will provide.

In the last few weeks, I have found myself saying, “I am so glad to be back in and part of this school” more times than I can count. At a parish community I’ve never left, it has been exciting to rejoin the school community as parents. My husband, son, and I have felt so welcomed into the school, and we have been so encouraged by what we see from drop-off to pick-up and everything in between. 

We are grateful to hand off our child to teachers and staff who love and care for all the children, and who dedicate themselves to teaching academics and how to live a faith-filled life rooted in love, kindness, and generosity. St Charles Borromeo is a unique school served by dedicated, committed individuals, and we’re looking forward to our son experiencing just how very special it is.
