Many decisions go into raising a family, and one of those is education. For many, the decision is not always automatic.
While many opt to send their children to their local school system, there is always the option of Catholic school.
While sacrifices have to be made by your family to enroll in Catholic school, those sacrifices pay off in the end when you watch your children matriculate with a foundation rooted in faith. Sending your children to a school where they are free to express and grow in their faith is, in a word, priceless.
School Days Centered in Jesus
We are led each day by our 8th graders in a school-wide morning prayer that all students in grades PreK3-8th say. We pray before morning snack. We pray before lunch. We pray as separate classes throughout the day.
Our students at all grade levels learn about Jesus, the Bible, Mass, and being good in all we do and say. There are more formal Religion classes and instruction for students in grades K-8.
We have prayer buddies, where older classes are paired with younger ones, who meet throughout the year to celebrate various holidays and events. The older students take the younger ones under their wings, play games, read stories, and show compassion and care to their buddies.
We are led each day by our 8th graders in a schoolwide afternoon prayer that concludes our school day before returning home to our families. Everything we do throughout our day is centered in Jesus and our faith.
We Strengthen Our Faith at Monthly School Masses and Prayer Services
Students in K-8 attend monthly Masses as a school community. We gather with the St. Charles Parish community, lifting our voices in song and prayer. A different grade level leads each school liturgy. The students are altar servers, present the gifts, handle the readings, and the school choir provides the congregation with joyful music.
During Advent, our middle school (5th, 6th, 7th, and 8th grades) classes lead a weekly Advent Prayer Service for the entire school. During Lent, students lead the Stations of the Cross each week, culminating in the Living Stations presented by the 8th grade.
Our students are blessed with the ability to visit the Church throughout the school day (with their classes), pausing in quiet prayer, or even holding a Religion class lesson about the Liturgy of the Word, or to learn about the saints.
Faith-Filled Plays and Performances
Our PreK students take part in an annual Christmas sing-along in the Church for family and friends, performing songs celebrating the birth of Jesus. Our Kindergarten, 1st, and 2nd-grade students perform a different Christmas play every December for the student body, families, and friends, centered on the birth of Jesus.
Students Are Encouraged to Be Disciples of Jesus and Students of Character
Each month, three Middle School students are chosen as Disciples of Jesus for excelling in academic and communal life at school. These students strive to do their best in all areas of academic life and strive to take care of those around them who are in need.
Also, each month, one student from each K-4 grade level is selected as a Student of Character. Our school learns about, demonstrates, and celebrates a different Character Pillar of the Month in daily life. Students who exemplify this Character Pillar are chosen as the Students of Character for the month.
