Why should you choose a Catholic education for your children? Along with being rooted in faith, a Catholic education is also rooted in service.
From a young age, our students are encouraged to participate in school-sponsored service projects and in any they choose to undertake outside of school.
Teaching service over self is a staple of daily life at St. Charles, where our students pride themselves on helping others, whether they be classmates, staff members, parishioners, or members of the community. Annual Food and Clothing Drives and Bake Sales
Most of the service projects conducted each school year are organized and led by members of the SCB Student Council. In the fall, we conduct food and clothing drives for local charities.
Donations of gloves, hats, and scarves help us decorate the mitten tree, proudly displayed in the school lobby during the Advent season. These items are then donated to various charities for distribution to families in need.
January brings about Catholic Schools Week. Each year for the past three years, we have collected different food items for local food banks. The first of those years centered around a cereal box collection. With more than 1,800 boxes collected, we stocked many shelves at those food banks. We have also collected boxes of pasta for food banks during Catholic Schools Week.
The Student Council hosts bake sales throughout the school year to raise funds for different organizations. The fall bake sale raised over $400 for Hurricane Melissa victims, including a matching donation from the SCB PTA.
Service Projects Outside of School
Our students are so dedicated to serving the community that they undertake projects outside of school on issues that are important to them.
From sock drives for the Eleanor Corbett House in Glassboro to a Christmas toy drive for CHOP patients to volunteering at a Christmas party for youth in foster care to participating in fundraising walks for Alzheimer's research, our students dedicate their time and efforts outside of the classroom to bettering the lives of others.
These are just a few examples of our students taking initiative in their communities to make the world a better place, in addition to the service they provide as members of our student body at a Catholic school near me.
Raising Money for Breast Cancer Patients
For the past two years, we have partnered with the Cinnaminson Fire Department and its Breast Cancer Awareness Committee for its Paint the Town Pink Campaign. Formed more than a decade ago in honor of their retired business administrator and breast cancer survivor, we have proudly donated just shy of $3,000 to the cause through the sale of school-focused shirts and other donations over the past two years.
Providing Assistance at the Annual Parish Carnival
Our Parish community hosts a carnival every June to raise funds for the Church, School, Religious Education, and other Parish community entities. Our students graciously give their time to work a single shift or dozens throughout the week in game booths, the food tent, washing dishes, frying wings, restocking supplies, or cleaning the grounds to ensure a smooth and successful event for workers and attendees alike.
